Who We Are

grandma Almost a century ago, Lakshmi, a widow, was traveling by train to an Ashram to seek refuge, as her promised husband had died and so had her father. She became ill and was taken to a Christian hospital in Rajahmundry where she was nursed and witnessed to by Betty Nilsson, a Missionary from Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. She was converted to Christianity, married the Pastor of the hospital and they had one daughter, Hope Sylvia Charles. She instilled in Sylvia the dream of one day building a hospital for the poor.

rao Dr. Eda William Prasada Rao, M.S., founder and former Director of the Christian Cancer Center, was born on April 25, 1941 in Addalapalem Village of Sakhenetipalli, and passed away on August 22, 1999. He was an eminent Surgeon and a good religious philosopher. He was responsible for the all-around development of the Center. As a true Christian, he devoted his life to serve the poor. He was always cheerful and had a pleasant manner. He extended his helping hand to everyone who approached him. Our earnest prayers to ALMIGHTY to rest his soul in peace.

Dr. Wally and Lois Sorensen. Generous contributors to the Christian Cancer Center, and to Hope Village. sorens
